Qatar's Al-Jazeera Channel was awarded the Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) Award for Superiority in a special ceremony held in Doha on February 15, 2005.
The Award was presented for the brand with the most global impact which was successfully protected from infringement and unauthorized use in 120 countries by AGIP, a member of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAGO).
"Al-Jazeera is increasingly gaining credibility beyond its borders," Chairman of the Board of Directors of TAGO, Mr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh stated.
"In the survey conducted by BrandChannel, Al-Jazeera has been voted the world's fifth most influential brand. Al-Jazeera brand now ranks in terms of impact alongside giants such as Nokia and Starbucks," he added.
Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh also highlighted the cooperation between Al-Jazeera Channel and AGIP in the field of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) protection.
Meanwhile, Mr. Hammad Al-Ne'ami, marketing director of Al-Jazeera Channel commended the efforts exerted by AGIP in protecting the Al-Jazeera brand.
The event was attended by eminent economists, ambassadors, diplomats, and officials in the business world.
