UAE Recognizes AGIP as a Strategic Partner in IPRs Promotion
25-Apr-2010
ABU DHABI – In recognition of its considerable role in safeguarding Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs), the UAE Ministry of Economy is honoring Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) on April 26, 2010 at the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
This celebration, to be held under the patronage of HE Minister of Economy Eng. Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, recognizes AGIP as a strategic partner in promoting the culture of IPRs protection.
“We are extremely thrilled with this recognition which will be an additional drive for us to improve and develop our services,” said Mr. Amjad El Husseini, AGIP UAE Executive Director.
“Our top-class work is led by the sound vision of Chairman Talal Abu-Ghazaleh in providing our clients with unmatched services and in working hard to stay first,” El Husseini added.
Moreover, the UAE Customs will be honoring AGIP after ranking Number One in filing trademarks recordation in 2009.
Honoring AGIP coincides with the globe’s celebration with the World Intellectual Property Day. In 2000, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Member States decided to designate an annual World Intellectual Property Day. They chose April 26, the date on which the Convention establishing WIPO originally entered into force in 1970.
Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) was established in Kuwait in 1972, under the name of T.M.P Agents in a time when Intellectual Property (IP) protection was still in its early stages of development in the Arab region. However, since our launch, AGIP has consistently been at the forefront of efforts to improve the infrastructure of IP in the Arab world.
To this end, AGIP has worked in close coordination with Arab governments and multilateral organizations on introducing an efficient IP system that has brought up significant changes to the region.
