Russia: Increase in Official IP Fees

MOSCOW – By the Resolution of the Government of the Russian Federation dated 18 September, the fees for the registration of intellectual property rights have been increased. The Resolution has been adopted and published on September 27, 2024.

In addition, the discount for electronic filing has been abolished and late payments will now incur a fee of double the amount.

These changes will enter into force on October 5, 2024 and introduce the following main changes:

1. The amounts of the official fees are being increased (several positions remain unchanged, but some are raised significantly). In particular, the annuity/renewal payments will be increased by 10-25%.

2. The 30% discount for electronic filing of instructions is abolished.

3. Annual instalments paid for maintaining patents' validity will be replaced by 5-year payments.
