Libya to Resume Receiving New Trademark Applications
30-Jul-2024 TRIPOLI - The Libyan Trademark Office announced yesterday that it will start accepting new trademark applications as of September 2, 2024.
Accordingly, AGIP is proceeding to submit all pending applications and will follow up on already filed applications.
It is worth mentioning that Libya has recently implemented new measures and requirements for trademark registration, which require a legalized Power of Attorney and a company registration document to accompany trademark applications. The required documents should be original and legalized by the Libyan Consulate in the applicant's home country. Late filing of required documents is only permissible for applications claiming priority; in such cases, the legalized documents must follow within 40 days from the date of the application.
