Pakistan Joins Madrid Protocol of Trademarks

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan has formally joined the Madrid System for international trademark registrations, making it easier and effective for trademark owners to get protection in export markets.

Pakistan had deposited its instrument of accession to the Madrid Protocol with WIPO’s Director General on February 24, 2021. This makes Pakistan the 108th member of the Madrid System.

After coming into effect on May 24, 2021 the local trademarks owners in Pakistan can begin using the system for trademark protection in 123 countries. The Madrid system provides a convenient and cost-effective solution for trademark owners worldwide.
