Yes, Law No. 5846 in 1951.


The following Intellectual Works:
(a) Software, CD, & Cassettes
(b) Translation
(c) Original, literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works;
(d) Cinematographic works; and
(e) Records


Life of the author + 70 years for inheritors.


Imprisonment that may extend 2-4 years and a fine $35,000- $110,000.


Collective management organizations may assist you in obtaining authorization from the right owner of a work. There are no search procedures in the Pakistan copyright office.


Civil and criminal remedies are available, any other right conferred by copyright Ordinance, 1962, shall be punishable with imprisonment which may extend to three years, or with fine which may extend to one hundred thousand rupees" or with both.


According to the Copyright ordinance, 1964: Permits for profit any place to be used for the performance of the work in public where such performance constitutes an infringement of the copyright in the work unless he was not aware and had no reasonable ground for suspecting, that such performance would be an infringement of copyright.


In the case of an unpublished work other than an architectural work of art, the author is at the date of the making of the work a citizen of Pakistan or domiciled in Pakistan
