Requirements

1. A Power of Attorney executed in the applicant's name duly notarized and legalized by apostille or the Saudi Consulate.

2. A notarized and apostilled/legalized Deed of Assignment, if any, executed by the plant breeder(s), assigning the patent rights to the applicant.

3. Name of the plant variety or the suggested name, the contents of the same should refer to the variety.

4. The generic and type of the plant variety.

5. The common or commercial name of the variety.

6. The name and address of the plant breeder.

7. The details of the priority application and the prior disclosure.

8. A certified copy of the priority document.

9. A copy of the technical specification of the variety in English and Arabic prepared strictly in the following order:

a. The variety name.

b. The classification of the plant variety (the Latin and local name).

c. Full disclosure of the origin of the variety and the breed method.

d. The precise description of the sequence stages for the defined and propagation process used for the breed of the variety.

f. The proof of uniformity of the variety disclosing the variation in any of the features thereof.

g. The description of the stability disclosing the number of propagation circles by which no changes are made to the variety of distinguished characters as well as the variables observed during the propagation process.

h. A description for the variety distinguishes from the other verities of the same type. Submission of samples of propagate materials or other plants of the same type or photographs of the same is required in case the same would provide a complete description of the variety distinguished.

i. Drawings of the variety (if any) in case it is necessary to define the same as well as a brief description thereof. 

j. A photograph of the plant or its main parts, especially for ornamentals or unknown plants.
