15 years starting form the UAE filing date, (in case of PCT, starting from the PCT filing date). It can be extended for another 5 years.


1- If the invention is exploitable in the UAE, and is not being exploited
2- If the exploitation is not sufficient to meet the demand for the product
3- If the refusal of the owner of the patent to conclude a license contract under fair terms has seriously impeded the development of industrial or commercial activities in the UAE.
