Filing Requirements

Trademark/Service Mark Applications

Note: One Power of Attorney can be used for filing several applications in the name of the same applicant.


1. A Power of Attorney signed, notarized and legalized either by the Apostille or legalized by the Consulate of Oman via courier. 

2. The name, nationality, address and occupation of the applicant.
3.  A print of the trademark. 

4. A list of specific goods/services and the corresponding classes to be covered by the application.  It is not possible to file the trademark with entire class heading or with all goods/services or without specific goods/services. 

5. The meaning of the trademark (if available).
6.  A simple copy of the Certificate of Incorporation of the applicant company or an extract of their entry in the Commercial or a Certificate of Good Standing (along with a simple English translation, if it is not in English).  Legalization is not required for this document. 

7. A certified priority document (along with a simple English translation), if priority is to be claimed.

Collective Mark Applications

1. A Power of Attorney signed, notarized and legalized either by the Apostille or legalized by the Consulate of Oman via courier.

2. A simple copy of the Certificate of Incorporation of the applicant company or an extract of their entry in the Commercial or a Certificate of Good Standing (along with a simple English translation, if it is not in English).  Legalization is not required for this document.

3. The prints of all marks should be on one sheet.

4. A certified priority document (along with a simple English translation), if priority is to be claimed.


Renewal

1. A Power of Attorney signed, notarized and legalized either by the Apostille or legalized by the Consulate of Oman via courier, in case we are not already in possession of a legalized one.

2. The trademark number and class.


Recording Change of Name and Address

1. Power of Attorney signed, notarized and legalized either by the Apostille or legalized by the Consulate of Oman.

2. An original or certified change of name and address document issued by the Commercial Registry (along with a simple English translation). 


Recording an Assignment
1. A Power of Attorney signed by the assignee, legalized either by the Apostille or legalized by the Consulate of Oman.

2. An assignment deed signed by the assignor and the assignee, notarized and legalized either by the Apostille or legalized by the Consulate of Oman, (indicating the trademark number, trademark and class).
3.  A simple copy of the Certificate of Incorporation of the assignee or an extract of their entry in the Commercial or a Certificate of Good Standing (along with a simple English translation, if it is not in English).  Legalization is not required for this document.

4. Name, address, nationality and profession or nature of business of the assignee.


Recording a License Agreement
1. A Power of Attorney notarized and legalized either by the Apostille or legalized by the Consulate of Oman.

2. License agreement document signed by the Licensor and Licensee, notarized and legalized either by the Apostille or legalized by the Consulate of Oman.
3.  A simple copy of the Certificate of Incorporation of the Licensee or an extract of their entry in the Commercial or a Certificate of Good Standing (along with a simple English translation, if it is not in English).  Legalization is not required for this document. 

4. Trademark registration number and class.  It is not possible to record the license agreement against trademark application.  
Recording a Merger

1. A Power of Attorney in the new name (to which the merger is to have effect), notarized and legalized either by the Apostille or legalized by the Consulate of Oman.

2. Merger document signed by both parties (along with a simple English translation, if it is not in English), notarized and legalized either by the Apostille or legalized by the Consulate of Oman.


Recording Change of Name
1.A Power of Attorney notarized and legalized either by the Apostille or legalized by the Consulate of Oman.

2.An original or certified change of name document issued by the home registry (along with a simple English translation).

Recording a Change of Address
1.A Power of Attorney notarized and legalized either by the Apostille or legalized by the Consulate of Oman, if we are not the official agent on record.
2.An original or certified change of address document issued by the home registry (along with a simple English translation).
