Requirements
Upon receipt of the application and upon payment of the application fees, examination is conducted, where if the registrar accepts the mark proceeds to advertisement in the Journal. If the registrar receives no objection within sixty (60) days of advertisement, then she/he proceeds to issue the certificate of registration.
If upon the examination, the Trademark Office objects to the application, it will notify the applicant in writing of the objections and will give him 30 days to submit his comments or to request a hearing, and if the applicant fails to submit his comments or requesting for hearing within the time allowed, he will be deemed to have withdrawn his application.
The following are the information required to file a Trademark:
• The full name, physical address and nationality of the trade mark applicant.
• The goods and/or services for which protection is sought i.e. in relation to what goods or services is the mark going to be used or is being used.
• If the trade mark is a logo mark we require 1clear print of such logo.
• The simply signed Power of Attorney.
