No. In Russia, partial cancellation of a trademark is possible. In the case of a claim for cancellation due to non-use, the use of each item must be proven.


Use of a trademark by the rightsholder or by a person to whom such a right is granted on the basis of a license agreement, or by another person who uses the trademark under the control of the rightsholder.
Use - by placing a trademark:
1) on goods, including on labels, packages of goods that are produced, offered for sale, sold, demonstrated at exhibitions and fairs, or otherwise introduced into civil circulation on the territory of the Russian Federation, or stored or transported for this purpose, or imported to the territory of the Russian Federation;
2) when performing work, rendering services;
3) on documentation related to the introduction of goods into civil circulation;
4) in proposals for the sale of goods, for the performance of work, for the provision of services, as well as in announcements, signboards, and advertisements;
5) on the Internet, including in a domain name and with other addressing methods.
Note - by default, this is not either-or, meaning the comprehensive provision of evidence.


To date, more than 600,000 trademarks are active in Russia; in 2021 more than 100,000 applications were filed. Before the final choice of a name, it is advisable to check the shortlist of several names using a qualified Russian trademark attorney.

® - in terms of the trademark legislation, Russian legislation provides only for the designation ®, which indicates that the trademark is properly registered in Russia. For users/buyers, this indicates that the rightsholder pays due attention to protecting its reputation.
Note - the use of such marking for a trademark unregistered in Russia or at the stage of application is fraught with civil, administrative, and criminal penalties.
© - refers to copyright objects (music, literary works) and has no relation with trademark rights.
TM – is absent in Russian law, according to business customs, it can mean that an application for registration of a trademark has been filed.
