Plant Variety Protection, hereinafter abbreviated as PVP, is specific protection, provided by the country, in this case, represented by the Government and implemented by the Plant Variety Protection Office towards the variety of crops and plants produced by plant breeders through agricultural activities.


A Plant Variety Protection rights holder has the right to use and exercise the rights (including the right to commercialize the variety) and give consent to any party or other legal body to use the varieties in the form of seeds and harvested products for the purpose of propagation.

Commercialization of the variety without the right holder’s consent is prohibited.


No. Article 9d of Patent Law No. 13 of 2016 includes all living organisms (except microorganisms) as inventions that cannot be granted patents.
