The LBDR changed its operation mode from Registry Centric to a Registry/Registrar Operation Mode. Accordingly. Since February 1, 2021, applicants requesting the registration of new domain names under the .lb ccTLD and domain name holder “Registrants” cannot anymore register and maintain the domain name registrations directly via the registry they will have to register via LBDR Accredited Registrars (LBDR-AR).
Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) is one of the LBDR Accredited Registrars.
The LBDR services were provided to the benefit of the Lebanese Internet community completely free of charge since the LBDR was established in 1993 and until now. Unfortunately, the LBDR will starting February 01, 2021 charge the Registrars registration and yearly renewal fees to cover its operation expenses.
General requirements for the domain name
•A domain name must consist of at least 3 characters and at most 63 characters.
•The characters permitted in the domain name are, a-z, digits 0-9, and hyphens. The domain name cannot be all digits and cannot start or end with a hyphen.
•The first and the last character of the domain name must be a letter or a digit.
•The domain name cannot be all numeric, consisting of digits 0-9 only.
•The domain name cannot be identical to a registered domain name.
•Certain domain names are reserved or prohibited and may not be registered.
•The requirements according to this provision are in line with the Internet standards detailed in RFC 1034, RFC 1035, RFC 1123, RFC 3490, RFC 3491and RFC 3492.
