DUBAI - Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, the Deputy Chairman of Police and General Security, said that police will fight the Intellectual Property crimes vigorously as they negatively affect the national economy.

“The enforcement of Intellectual Property rights is significant,” he said. “The UAE is active in protecting the rights of international brand owners.”

According to Gulf News, the first trademark law in UAE was issued in 1992 then amended in 2000 and 2002.

The General Tamim made the remarks during the third conference on Intellectual Property rights held yesterday at the Culture and Science Association in Dubai.
