AGIP Warns of Erroneous Information

01 Dec 2003

Abu-Ghazaleh Intellectual Property (AGIP) would like to draw the attention of its clients to the misinterpretation carried out by one of the firms in the IP field. This firm has published an article concerning Jordan as follows:

" A Three-year Period to Regularize Trademark Status
The Trademark Registrar at the Ministry of Industry and Trade has granted all owners of trademarks registered prior to 16/4/2003 a three-year period to regularize their situation. Therefore, in order to preserve their rights, they have to notify the Ministry in this concern or else, the Registrar will cancel the trademarks that haven’t been legalized during the mentioned period of time.

It is worth noting that no charges are imposed for the notification and applications can be filed all week long except for Fridays at the Ministry or the Directorates of Industry and Trade".

However, the above news item is related to Trade names and not Trademarks. Therefore, AGIP calls on its clients to be cautious of any confusion that might occur.
